2004年6月3日This morning， when I tried to use a washing machine， which we’re sharing with 9 people， I found that somebody used neither a washing machine nor a dryer. So I started to use it.
But when I checked if finished， I found somebody else was using the dryer and set the timer 150 minutes! I mean we usually use a washing machine to wash our clothes first， and then use a dryer to dry them， right? So how could I expect there was somebody used only a dryer?!
Anyway， I was stuck in it. I mean I had to wait for my turn…
Later， one of my flatmates， who is living opposite of the washing machine and dryer， explained me one of us was using the dryer around 3am， so she couldn’t sleep. At last she got up and tuned the dryer off. That’s why there were clothes unfinished in this morning.
But， why I couldn’t find them? Because the third person used the washing machine and dryer early morning. I mean the person just took the wet clothes out of the dryer and dried only his/hers. And he/she left the wet stuff anywhere unseen at a glance. Usually when we use the washing machine， we check if somebody leaves his/her stuff in the dryer as well. If so， we put it in the dryer. But the person didn’t do that， because he/she just wanted to use it by herself/himself.
Of course， there are no rules about it particularly. But we know that doing laundry around 3am makes the others so irritated. If taking wet clothes out and using a dryer then just leaving it， how does the next person using it feel? The person who leaves it should be responsible for it， so he/she cannot blame it， but in reality， the third person should involve the matter even though it isn’t his/her responsibility as well.
Well， that’s sharing. I mean Japanese are usually good at compromising， so it’s easy to stress out… but I don’t want to have a fight with the others， actually…
